The colorful EFF project.

For the EFF april 2012 I have probably designed more than 5 costumes. I liked none of them enough. Eventually I designed a very colorful costume which friends seemed to like. I then decided to make that one.
By now I've realized that this costume isn't "me". This is not something I'm going to wear because I feel good in it. The EFF has become more than just a fantasy event. People show of their costumes and their crafts. And I want to be recognized as well! I guess that's why I designed this one. Don't get me wrong though, I still enjoy making it and still think it looks good ;).
This is the basic design:
I'm working with cheap shiny fabrics. Mostly satin and organza.
So far I've been working on swirly "flaps" for a skirt. I order to keep them in shape I add a back layer of faux leather and a iron wire.

Also, to keep the organza from fraying, I use an incense
stick to sort of melt the edges.

I still have much to do!

Catching up.

Okay... So.. It's been quite a while.
A few have asked me why I haven't updated my blog in such a long while and that they'd like to see more. So here I am again. I'll post progress on projects more often. As for what I've been up to, creatively speaking, not too much worth mentioning. What I would like to tell you about is my first experience in stone carving/sculpting. It was about a year ago. During the summer holidays, my mother, stepdad and I took a three day sculpting class. We each brought a sculpture home. It was not just me who very much enjoyed this experience. My mom loved it so much that she got a complete sculpting set for her birthday from my stepdad and she's looking forward to her new project. (I'd love to sculpt again myself!).Anyway, here's my result:

Its right wing is folded back because I had to work with the stone I had.

Also, I made this drawing of a dwarf based on descriptions from a friend's game.
I'll have this be a reminder that I promised him to draw a company of 7 dwarfs ;).

Also, on the subject of sewing. I of course finished my shaman costume and wore it to Castlefest. after that I had no projects to work on. I really missed it. About a month ago I bought fabric for another EFF costume. And yesterday I made a gown/dress for a friend from good quality satin. I'll post pictures of that one later
:).
So, last but not least. Here's my Shaman costume:
